We were mindlessly scrolling on the gram recently and up pops a comment on someone’s eyelash extension post reading, “I thought we were done with that trend.”
Um, like, huh? Say WHAT? Trend? After we picked ourselves up off the floor we came to the realization that the general, non-lashed, population may not know why those of us with lashes would never consider them a ‘trend.’ So, we decided to explain.
First, getting lash extensions isn’t cheap + it’s a time investment. But they will save you time + energy, +ultimately save you money on trying to find the best mascara out there month after month. Your full set of lashes will take anywhere from 1.5-3 hours. This will depend on many variables like lash type, your ability to lie still, and the technician’s speed. We highly recommend sneaking in a nap <3.
Next up are fills. We’ve found that a lot of people don’t know they need fills. Your lashes naturally shed and they grow rapidly so you will need to come in for 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-week lash fills. The most popular lash fill time frame @ CONFETI is 2 weeks. Determining your lash fill timing will be an individual’s preference. Some people are naturally harder on their lashes so they need to come in more frequently, others can’t handle to see even one lash missing so they come in weekly, while others are good with 3-4 week fills and you can’t even tell they’ve lost a lash. Depending on how much time you have to spend in the salon+spa each week could determine what length of time you wait for that fill. As an example, a 1-week fill will be over in about :30 minutes, so this could be accomplished during your lunch break.
Now that we’ve got all of the how out, let’s talk about the why. Why would someone want lashes? There are many reasons. We see people getting them for vacations, events, or weddings so they look put together without trying. Some get them because they don’t want to deal with makeup. Many will get them because their natural lashes are short or not the color they want + they don’t want to go the lash lift+tint route. While other clients wear them nearly year-round.
Lash styles are individualized, just like hair color or makeup. In fact, you may have seen someone with a classic or hybrid set of lashes and did not even known they were extensions. Nope-they aren’t that good at mascara application without any clumps, or born with that perfect shape and curl, it was lash extensions. THIS is why we can’t imagine lash extensions ever going away. It saves our clients so much time and gives them an effortless look as soon as they wake up. Literally, you will look like a goddess even while tent camping.
Some things could be considered trends in the lash extension game. These would be things like colors, decals, shapes, lengths, or styles. But the overall service of lash extensions is most definitely NOT A TREND and here to stay as the technology is only now starting to advance in this part of the industry.
