The DO's+DONT's of Brazilian Waxing

WHY WAX AT ALL?

There are so many reasons to wax and even more to do so with regularity. The first, and foremost, reason is that waxing keeps you smooth much longer than shaving because you are removing the entire hair (including what's beneath the surface of the skin.) when the hair eventually does slowly grow back, what starts to push through the surface of the skin is a brand-new tapered hair. The regrowth from waxing also feels sparser because if you catch the hair in its first phase of growth, also known as the anagen phase, the hair is still being grasped by the papillary gland which means the gland must begin to grow a new hair before it can even start to push its way towards the surface. We're talking weeks!

IS MAINTAINING A REGULAR WAXING PLAN REALLY THAT IMPORTANT?

This topic brings us to phases of growth and training your hair. If you maintain a waxing schedule, (every 4-6 weeks) you're slowly manipulating your hair growth cycle to be all in the same phase. This leads to **longer periods between any regrowth, and continued damage to the papillary gland which means permanent hair reduction over time. A regular wax also becomes a quicker, much more comfortable and sometimes less expensive. @ CONFETTI we recommend starting in April to get summer ready!

SHAVING VS. WAXING

For starters, the regrowth from waxing is more comfortable than after shaving. When we shave, most often we are cutting the hair off bluntly, at the thickest point, mid-shaft. As the hair continues to grow, or in later phases of hair growth (catagen and telogen, when it’s pushed through the surface of the skin, it feels thicker and looks darker than it would with waxing or sugaring; causing irritation, discomfort and often ingrown hairs. This is likely where the urban legend was born, that waxing can make your hair grow back thicker or darker. No form of hair removal can do that. The only
